If you want to be able to receive your student email on your phone then please visit this Microsoft help page about the issue. At the bottom of the page are links to specific pages for iPhone and Blackberry Curve and Pearl use. Android users should be able to use the general instructions for using IMAP.

Microsoft have just released a new app for iPhone and iPad to support direct access to Skydrive. As part of your school email account you will have a Skydrive file storage component as well, and this app will allow you access to any files you have saved here.

On an iPhone you can only open and view files whilst on an iPad if you click on a file it should open using the Word web app in Safari allowing you full editing rights.

One option iPhone (and iPad users) do have is to send a link via email to a given file (say a homework to a teacher, or a co-collaborator on a project).

The app is free to download and to use, and will work with personal Hotmail/Windows live accounts too, although you can only access one account at a time.
